Protist is the international forum for reporting substantial and novel findings in any area of research on protists. The journal publishes original papers, short historical perspectives and a news and views section. Suitable subject areas include: molecular, cell and developmental biology, biochemistry, systematics and phylogeny, and ecology of autotrophic and heterotrophic protists.

Researchers with an interest in protists working in the areas of protistology, protozoology, phycology, parasitology, molecular, cell and developmental biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, systematics, evolution and phylogeny, and ecology.
